The Elephant Bar Restaurant, 3405 West Chandler Boulevard, menu has a lot of choices which makes it great- American, Asian, Pacific Rim, Hawaiian foods. Inexpensive and fun describes the restaurant which claims to take diners on a "taste safari". Look for pastas and grilled entrees alongside burgers, sandwiches, salads, macadamia nut salmon, crispy honey orange shrimp, chicken and shrimp jambalaya, fish tacos, and Kona BBQ pork ribs.
Go shopping before or after lunch at the Chandler Mall and surrounding shops.
Saturday's Polar Plunge, sponsored by The Lakes Women's Club, was a big success and raised over $4,000 for Arizona Special Olympics. Lots of volunteers helped make the event a fun fund raiser!
Tempe Mayor Hugh Hallman and several Tempe city council members attended and took the plunge along with over one hundred participants including several from The Lakes.
The event fee was $20 and included a cool t-shirt and bragging rights since the Plunge process calls for participants to take the plunge into an unheated pool. The Lakes pool was left unheated for three days and was at a chilly 64 degrees at 9 AM Saturday morning.

FFC meets the third Wednesday of the month at 11:30 AM in the Clubhouse for a potluck and a foreign film screening.
Lakes Women's Club
Meets the first Thursday of the month at 6:30 PM. All Lakes women are welcome.
Out To Lunch Bunch
The Bunch meets at the Club the second Wednesday and carpools to a new gastronomic adventure for lunch every month. The Bunch reserves tables, so sign up at the Clubhouse at least one day in advance. Meet at the Club to carpool at 11:30 am.
