This is the time of year that things settle into a routine at our Lakes Beach and Tennis Club, and the hard work of our front-desk and other Lakes employees is more evident than ever.
While we've always had the good fortune of attracting dedicated, qualified staff, it seems to me that this particular group demonstrates a special quality of dedication to their jobs, of determination to be the best they can.
Most impressive of all, I think, is the kind of teamwork they've succeeded in building, and I'm consistently proud of the seemingly Herculean efforts they expend to make sure our residents- in other words, you- feel welcomed and at home when you visit our clubhouse for play, exercise or simply relaxation.
Which brings me to the atmosphere I hope we have been able to create around our entire community, a sense of neighborhood that exists as a continuation of the dream that was envisioned by our Lakes founders more than 40 years ago.
It is this, I like to think, that continues to bring out the best in our employees, in the dedicated volunteers who serve on our boards and committees and of course in all of you who have chosen The Lakes to be your home. It's this kind of environment that inspires those in a leadership or support role to go that extra mile, to do all we can to retain the qualities that have made it such a special place to live.
That's our board's goal, I'm sure, and mine as well.
Even though all of us tend to be preoccupied with our own daily challenges and opportunities, I encourage you to think for a moment about the quality of life that has been evident here at The Lakes for so many years, and to join your neighbors in making whatever contribution you can to its continuation.
Whether it's volunteering for a committee, serving on our Board of Directors, assisting in the planning for community events or simply joining in the camaraderie that continues to be alive and well at our Beach and Tennis Club and in our neighborhoods, both I and the Board encourage you to be involved.
Throughout my years in this community, I've been aware of the ongoing efforts to broaden the participation of all its residents in some of the many opportunities that exist for leadership or just plain old enjoyment with people of like minds, like interests.
And though we've all heard people say that it's hard to feel fully at home with neighbors who've lived in a community longer or been more involved in its activities, we try hard to make sure that same sentiment won't be felt here.
With the atmosphere of helpfulness, of friendliness, of neighborly welcoming that exists these days in places like our clubhouse, it's easier than it's ever been to be part of the many fine programs and activities that occur here.
To our association leadership, to our residents and, of course, to our dedicated Beach and Tennis Club staff, go heartfelt thanks for keeping The Lakes among the Valley's premiere places to live.
Please feel free to share with me any thoughts you may have about our community and ways to make it even better.
Christine
